MPN/Entrance Counseling

Federal regulations require students who borrow Stafford, Graduate Plus, Parent Plus or Campus-based loans to sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and participate in Entrance Loan Counseling when they enter school. Financial Aid Offices are required to provide you with important information regarding your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. Signing of the MPN and Entrance Counseling is provided in online sessions for you to complete.

Important Note: The MPN and Entrance counseling requirements must be complete, for each loan type, before the Financial Aid Office is allowed to release any loan disbursements.  Once you have signed a Direct Loan MPN and have received disbursement(s) on that MPN, it is valid for 10 years.  Entrance counseling is school specific and must be completed annually.

Complete the MPN and Entrance Counseling Requirements Online:

  • Stafford & Graduate Plus MPN and Entrance Counseling are completed by visiting the U.S. Department of Education’s website.  A separate MPN and Entrance counseling is required for the Graduate Plus loan.  Parent borrowers will complete the Parent Plus MPN.
